Our Story
In the Beginning...
Way back in the day (1989, to be precise), when acid wash jeans and mixed tapes were all the rage, I was in the kitchen, baking and so graciously 'gifting' (maybe someone would even say 'giving' cause I was broke) to my family and friends with cherry pies, birthday cakes, holiday cookies, and fresh banana breads. Then, after two-plus decades of not-so-subtle nudges to open a bakery, I finally decided to give into into the madness.
So, a fast 30 years later (give or take a decade or two of those years of procrastinating), and after several months of expensive red tape (business licensing, fictitious name, website building, county certification, ServSafe training, the whole shebang) I FINALLY took the plunge (in 2020, we could use the extra income) to open my Home Cottage Bakery!
I do, simply love the art of baking & stove-top creating, so being able to share my passion with you, brings happiness to my heart. And honestly, some much needed extra income (those dreams of vacationing in figi don't come cheap!)
I sling occasional custom cakes, gourmet & artisan cookies, brownies, sourdough, sweet breads, scones, muffins and other favorites at local farmer's markets and events.
NOW, I also offer these at our newly built Roadside Honer BakeStand! I even have all-natural treats for those adorable little food critics we call 'pets' (pupcakes, cakes, snacks). Baking is my jam, and now I'm sharing the carbs n calories, wait… I mean the LOVE…with YOU! ♡♡
Made from Scratch
We get all excited over fresh, wholesome ingredients, so we partner with local farmers and suppliers whenever possible. We also have a bit of a thing for doing things right, using both old-fashioned and newfangled techniques to ensure ALL of our baked goodies are top-tier. Our goal is simple: maximum taste bud enjoyment and tummy happiness- Yep. You're welcome.
Helping our Community
As we begrudgingly grow (because, you know, success is hard), we've decided to part with some of our hard-earned dough (lol, get it? 'Dough.' Oh, never mind).
A percentage of our profits from our adorably scrumptious, custom pet cakes (yes, people buy cakes for their pets, and we're not judging, plus, those things sell like hotcakes-pun intended) will be donated to local animal shelters or rescues, twice a year. They deserve it, for all the loving, hard work and money they use to care for homeless pets.
We're also spreading the love to our First Responders, Veterans, teachers, delivery drivers, and seniors with occasional discounts and specials. Because without them, we'd be living in a world with no online shopping, questionable education, lawlessness and no AARP. We appreciate and salute you!"
